Paul John “P.J.” Gillich III, 23, passed away at home on Saturday, December 27, 2014. Born in Point Pleasant, NJ, he lived most of his life in Beachwood, NJ before moving to Manchester in May. He attended Highpoint University in North Carolina and was currently enrolled in the Graphic Arts Program of the University of Pittsburgh. P.J. was a 2009 graduate of Monsignor Donovan High School, where he played football and competed on the track & field team for 4 years.

He was a Boy Scout, attaining the highest rank of Eagle Scout with the Knights of Columbus Troop 29 of Toms River in 2009. He participated in Habitat for Humanity during his junior and senior years, and competed successfully in several Strongman competitions after HS. Recently he began expanding his handyman skills, having inherited his “Pop’s” love of tools and puttering around the workshop in the garage.

He is survived by his mother Donna Deter-Gillich of Manchester, his father Paul John Gillich, Jr. of Pensacola, FL, a sister Kristen Obry of Morgantown, WV, a brother Christian Gillich of Beachwood, paternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Gillich of Toms River and Mr. & Mrs. Schutz of Pensacola, FL. Locally, he leaves several aunts and uncles, including Julianne O’Marra, John & Wendy Deter, Meri Deter, Bob Sauer, and cousins Jeremy & Suzanne Deter, Jessica Deter & Bryan Becker, Stewart Clayton & Jenn Kosh, Alexis Deter and Brianna Becker.

He leaves numerous other cousins, aunts, uncles and good friends, and he counted Brandon Ziza, Brendan Gill & Pat Ryan among the closest of those. PJ was pre- deceased by his maternal grandparents Cis & Don Deter, and an uncle, Kevin O’Marra.
