Paul Horton Lewis, aged 83 years, went to be with his Lord on May 25th, 2021.

Paul was born March 8th, 1938 in Fleming County, Kentucky to a loving and hardworking farming family and had five siblings. His youthful years on the farm involved hard work but also had many joys, as his family’s home was a hub that friends and relatives loved to visit.

While still in Kentucky, he first met the woman he would wed and raise a family with. Margaret “Jeanie” Lewis (nee Cline) was instrumental in helping him become successful in all aspects of life.

While working in the food service industry, he met the owner of a Dog n Suds restaurant, Mae Sterns, who offered him an opportunity of a lifetime. Paul and Jeanie purchased the operation and ran it successfully for many years with the help of so many wonderful (and colorful) employees.

He obtained a pilot’s license and enjoyed taking journeys, forging lasting friendships at the Franklin Flying Field.

Paul later renovated and opened a convenience store, the Jackpot Mini-Quik. In retirement, he enjoyed wintering in Florida, golfing and pursuing another passion, country and bluegrass music, attending performances, and meeting his favorite artists.

Paul was generous with his time and resources. Active in many service organizations, he was a Freemason, a 50-year member of the Shriners, and an Honorary Kentucky Colonel.

He is survived by his wife Jeanie, sons Mark and Darren (Gail) Lewis, daughter Delinda (Glenn) Lafara, grandchildren Zachary (Mary) Sloan, Tyler and Conner Lewis, and great-grandchildren Atticus and Claudio Sloan.

He is also survived by a brother, Courtney Lewis (Henrietta) and sister Marilyn Swim (Douglas), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and very dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Helen Lewis, brothers Ellis and Charles Ray and sister Frances.
