Muncie – Paul E. Phipps, 76, passed away March 24, 2013, at his residence following an extended illness.
Paul was born in Monticello, Kentucky on June 23, 1936 the son of Millard and Mamer (Gregory) Phipps, and attended Muncie Schools.
Mr. Phipps served proudly in the United States Navy as a firefighter. He worked for Elico Fabricating and Durham Manufacturing, before working in Security with Marsh Warehouse until his retirement. He was a lifelong Musician; he played with the Image Band for many years.
Survivors include three sons, Jeff Phipps, (wife-Kelly), Muncie, Bill Phipps, (wife-Teresa R.), Yorktown, and David Phipps, (wife-Amethyst), Muncie; a daughter, Tami Rhea, (Fred Gamber), Muncie; three brothers, Lomoan Phipps, Gerstal Phipps, (wife-Mary), and Gilbert Phipps; a sister, Fay Hughes, (husband-Ron), ten grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jessica, Brandi, and Erica Phipps, Heather Davis, Stormy Nantz, Jordan Bennett, Dustin Moody, and Devan and Dylan Burke; his first wife and close friend, Joyce Phipps; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 22 years, Kathy Phipps, a brother, Clyde Phipps; and two sisters, Thelma Cole, and Irene Phipps.
