Paul E. Anderson, 93, of Ashland, IL died Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
He was born July 30, 1916 in Jacksonville, IL; the son of Carl O. and Laura Payne Anderson.
He is survived by a daughter, Connie Burton of Ashland; six grandchildren, Dallas Burton of Ashland, Donnie Burton of Auburn, Candy Smith of Ashland, Kyle E. Anderson of Ashland, Kim Anderson of Chicago, and Doug Anderson of Ft. Myers, FL; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul â??Regâ? Anderson; a daughter in law, Denise Farmer Anderson; and three brothers, Robert, Charles, and Raymond Anderson.
Mr. Anderson served with the US Army during WW II. He was a farmer prior to working with the Ashland Street Department for 18 years and the Ashland Police department for 6 years. He retired from LA Security of Springfield. He also assisted with the Plattnerâ??s Trail Ride for several years. He served 19 years as an Ashland Village Trustee and volunteered many hours as an umpire for Ashland Youth Baseball. He was a member of Ashland Church of Christ, Ashland VFW Post, and Ashland American Legion Post.
