With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Paul Christopher Block, Menominee name “Ken na wa na tem”, who passed away in Benicia, CA on December 30, 2020, at the age of 54. We are planning on having a ceremony in August, 2021 and return him to the sacred land of the Menominee Nation in Keshena, Wisconsin.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Maureen Brannon; their furry children Trixie and Cesar; their son Nya Marvin and his wife Juliana Marvin; grandchildren, Poppy and Kaeda; his father Richard; siblings, Leslie Witty, David, and Lawrence; niece Clara Witty; nephews William, Theodore, and Jozef; and a host of wonderful relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother J. Eva and his brother Richard Jr.
Paul was born on July 28, 1966 in West Allis, WI. He graduated from West Allis Central High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Paul was someone who was bigger than life. He was the tattoo artist and left a trail of lasting friendships wherever he went: West Allis, Milwaukee, Madison, Port Washington, San Jose, Sacramento, San Francisco, and finally Benicia. He settled in Benicia and was devoted to his loving wife, Mau whom he treated like a queen. He was working at Mom’s Body Shop in San Francisco. Paul was devoted to all his family, and his Native American heritage. He was loved and will be missed by all.
The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors, nurses and other staff at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Vallejo, the officers and paramedics of Benicia who responded, the people who stayed with him at the scene who called 911 and held on to our precious furry child, Trixie.
