Paul A. O’Hara, 64, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully Monday, April 20, at Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born March 5, 1951, in South Bend, to William G. and Betty J. (Potter) O’Hara.
Surviving are his wife, Frances O’Hara of Elkhart; one daughter, Candace (Andy) Peregrine of Loreno, Texas; one stepson, Paul Taylor Jr. of Grand Prairie, Texas; one stepdaughter, Tonda (Robert) Hines of Elkhart; three brothers, Chuck (Isabelle) Hackler of Clinton Township, Mich., Tom (Connie) O’Hara of Milwaukee and Tim (Jeane) O’Hara of Elkhart; one sister, Barbara (Michael) Erhardt of Osceola; 13 grandchildren, Andi, Lily, Gabe and Lilah Peregrine, Nakara (Yarrum) Murray, Todd L. Johnson II, Rotony (Diamond) Hines, Camille Marion and Xavier, Michael, Miranda, Raven and Rikki Taylor; three great-grandchildren, Micaiah Murray, Yar’maria Murray and TreVaun Ulmer; and his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William “Bill” O’Hara.
Paul was a 1969 graduate of Washington High School.
He began his working career at Dodge Foundry in South Bend and was later employed at Bendix. Later he owned and operated Candy Car Corner in Elkhart, prior to working for the Elkhart Community Schools.
Paul was an avid golfer and hunter who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends more than anything. He enjoyed dining out and was an avid believer in tipping well.
