Patsy J. Werkheiser 76, passed away peacefully on February 3rd, 2022.

Patsy was born on November 14, 1945, in Beaver Dam, WI, the daughter of Ellsworth “IKE” and Margaret (Buske) Haight.  Patsy grew up in Stockton, Il.  and attended Stockton High School.

Patsy married Dean Werkheiser on November 19, 1966, and together raised two children Laurie & Kevin.

Patsy was a strong woman; she was a two-time breast cancer survivor. Patsy retired from Freeport School District after 30 years of service.  She was an active, and faithful attendee of First Free Methodist Church, Freeport.  Patsy was one of the original members of MOPS (Mothers of Pretzel Stars).

Patsy enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Patsy never missed a family activity, from 1st swimming lessons, sporting events, band concerts, graduations and piano recitals. Patsy was so proud of all of her family’s accomplishments.

Patsy loved to bake, her specialty was homemade pies, chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter blossoms. A year never went by without having grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews gathered around the kitchen table teaching them how to bake.

She is survived by her children, Laurie (Tim) Coleman of Freeport; Kevin (Connie) Werkheiser of Charleston, TN. Her brother Robert “Bob” (Dora) Haight of Tampa, FL. Her legacy also includes her grandchildren, Kristopher (Emily) Valkema; Kyle (Tiffany) Valkema; Michael (Cori Curtis) Smith; Ashley (Grayson) Kent. Her great grandchildren are Aiden Valkema, Luna Mae Smith and Brantley Dean Kent along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Dean, sisters, Mari Lynn White, Carol Suess, niece Wendy Dawson. Mother and Father in-law Mervin and Marian Werkheiser and brother in-law Robert “Bob” Werkheiser.
