Patsy L Boots, 90, of Moberly went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, with her family by her side. Patsy was born September 19, 1931 in Higbee, MO., to Eugene and Rena (Kirby) Sumpter, January 31, 1951, Patsy married Jim Boots of Moberly, and they were married for 62 years before Jim passed April 15, 2013. Also preceding her in death were her parents and a sister Peggy Hartung.
Patsy is survived by her two children, Randy Boots and his wife, Peggy, Rhonda Prewitt and her husband Randy, five grandchildren, Rodney Boots(Melissa), Angela Davidson (Erik), Melissa Smyser, Amy Black (Trinity) and Lisa Crutchfield (David), 13 great grandchildren – Hunter and Emma Boots, Quinn, Wrennen, and Ella Davidson, Riley and Delaney Smyser, Treyton, Kenize, and Jordan Black, Brendon, Aiden, and Westen Crutchfield, her brother, Jerry Sumpter, her sisters Judy Borron and Bonnie Long, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Patsy grew up in Higbee, helping her Dad on the farm, playing in the creek and fishing with her Grandpa. During high school, she worked at the telephone office in Higbee. After graduation, she went to college at Fayette for a year to get her teaching certificate. Following graduation at Fayette, she taught eight grades in a one room school house. After that, Patsy went to work at the shoe factory in Moberly in the office, where she worked for 5 years. When an opening came up at Uregas, she went to work there, where she worked her way up to the position of Manager at the Moberly accounting office, overseeing Accounts Receivable nationwide, and retired from Ferrellgas in January, 1995 after 37 1/2 years. Following retirement, Patsy served as a board member at Bank of Cairo and Moberly for 22 years.
Patsy and Jim enjoyed traveling and going places in their motor home, spending winters in Arizona and Florida. More than anything, Patsy loved her family. She was always spending time with the grandkids and great grandkids, planning lots of fun activities and trips. She was a great cook, and after retirement, cooked and delivered lunch for Jim and Randy and “the farm” workers. She was especially known for her delicious fried chicken and fried potatoes! Patsy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and enjoyed going to church activities.
