COL (Ret.) Patsy Ann Hughes, born January 2, 1948 in Longview, TX, passed away surrounded by family and trusted caregivers on August 7, 2014, in San Antonio. Patsy lived in Helotes after retiring from the United States Air Force, with her final years in retirement and care facilities in Boerne. She fought the gradual debilitating affect of Arterial Pulmonary Hypertension for five years.
Patsy was proceeded in death by her parents, William Carl and Daisy Mae Hughes. She is survived by six nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, her long time caregiver, Dianna Hutson and her cats, Daisy Mae and Star. Patsy served the Air Force from 1975 to her retirement in 2001, with assignments in locations worldwide, and was in line for promotion to General at the time of her retirement due to disability. She contracted to the financial services arm of the Air Force for several years after military retirement, before disability forced full retirement.
