Patrick was a natural athlete and worked hard to achieve his goals. While at Menasha High School he lettered in five sports. His scoring records in basketball stood for 29 years. To this day his discuss throw is still a school record. He was offered scholarships for basketball and baseball. Following his father’s wishes, he accepted a scholarship to Marquette University in basketball. During their ’54 – ’55yr the team was the first at Marquette to make it the NCAA finals.
After graduating, Patrick worked several jobs before becoming interested in the life insurance business. Patrick was an agent for Northwestern Mutual Life for 47 years. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in Nov. 2011. Patrick was a fighter to the end.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and sons, Patrick T. O’Keefe, Jr., and Parry J. O’Keefe. He is survived by his longtime friend and companion Pam Whitmore; his son Michael O’Keefe; a sister Molly; 4 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
