Patrick Preston, age 68, of New Smyrna Beach died unexpectedly on Friday, July 1, 2022 at his residence. Patrick was born in Newport, Rhode Island to Robert and Jacqueline Preston. Both parents were in the U.S. Navy so they lived in many states but settled in Florida in the 1960’s. Patrick went to Mainland High School in Daytona Beach and in later years was an avid bowler at Halifax Lanes, where he met his wife, Gloria. He moved to New Smyrna Beach where he lived most of his life and raised his own family.

Patrick was a skilled mason who took pride in his work on many homes in the local area. While living in New Smyrna Beach, he enjoyed Hunting and Fishing and he loved NASCAR-especially Dale Earnhardt. On the day of Patrick’s death, the Race Team retired the #3 forever.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Gloria; Daughter, Hayley Jean (Robert) Barlow; Sons-Patrick

(Randal) and Matthew (Lindsey), all of New Smyrna Beach. His grandchildren, Colton, Owen, Parker,

Peri, and Teegan were a very important part of his life. “Pops” loved those kids!

He is also survived by a sister Cathy (Bob) Nascimben of Texas and her family; a brother, Charlie (Anita) of Ohio; his sister-in-law, Sue Jordan of Auburn, N.Y. and his brother-in-law, Greg (Patty) McCoski of Port Byron, N.Y. as well as several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and dear friends and neighbors.
