Patrick (who was known by most people as Marcus) was born on March 17, 1961 to his loving parents Lupe and Arlene Apodaca. He was born and raised in Alameda, and was one of six siblings.  Marcus attended both Haight Elementary and Encinal High school where he made so many of his lifelong friends that he remained close with until his final days. During his childhood Marcus enjoyed camping at Bear Lake Reservoir with his parents, siblings and much of his extended family. Marcus later continued to enjoy the outdoors of Bear Lake with his own children as an adult where they would go fishing, boating and jet skiing, these were some his fondest memories. Marcus had a great love of football and was always passionate about his home team the Oakland Raiders, he enjoyed numerous tailgate parties at the Oakland Coliseum with his family and friends, and Marcus always brought lots of laughter to every event. He also had close relationships with each and every one of his nieces and nephews who he loved spending time with. Whether it was teaching them the trade of concrete, how to drive or even fish he always did it with lots of love and laughter.

Marcus worked in Alameda his whole life after inheriting the family concrete business Apodaca Brothers Construction from his father, and you can still see the majority of Mark’s work on many sidewalks around town to this day. He also did a lot of community work in Alameda and was a member of the St. Joseph’s Basilica where he loved to go pray on Sundays.

The Apodaca family is saddened by the loss of Marcus and will miss him immensely but his family knows that he leaves behind great memories and joy that he brought to so many people’s lives. Marcus was loved by so many because of his big heart and humorous nature and he will be deeply missed.

Marcus is survived by his Mother Arlene Apodaca; siblings Anthony and wife Julie Apodaca, Genevieve and husband Anthony Bettiga, Timothy Apodaca, Frances and husband David Tijerina; his children Nicole Apodaca, Marcus Apodaca, Veronica Duran, Alex Duran, Cecily Duran; grandchild Corey Zuk jr.; and preceded in death by his late father Lupe Apodaca and sister Lydia Lebario.
