Patricia Stephenson, 78, of Cassopolis, died peacefully Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in her residence in the comfort of her family’s presence. She was born October 8, 1939 in Berrien Center, Michigan to George and Virginia (Kirk) Forbes. She married Richard Stephenson on January 3, 1958 in Angola, Indiana.
He passed away on December 21, 2013. Patricia was a fantastic cook and even taught cooking classes for 4-H in her home. Known for her fudge, beer cheesecake, and her “scrabble” party mix, she was always ready to entertain. She loved to be with her family, the Christmas holiday was her favorite when everyone was together. Patricia was a huge lover of animals and always had pets. When her husband Dick was a farmer she would often go out to chat with the pigs. Her dog “Joe” and cat “Kitty” will forever miss her.
Patricia loved to go to the casino. She and Dick chose Wednesday’s as “their day.” Although she never won she enjoyed playing the slots. She even went to Las Vegas a few times with her children and sisters. Patricia will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Rick (Billie Jean) Stephenson of Parrish, FL, Kathy (Randy) Melvin of Cassopolis, Donna (Mitch) Bennett of Niles, Diana (Denny) Hamood of Decatur, and Karen (Scott) Dodd of Dowagiac; seventeen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; sisters Melody (Tom) Mason of Arizona and Jill (Rick) Smith of Arizona; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Dick; grandson Christopher Stephenson; her brother; and 3 sisters.
