Patricia V. Skyner passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 3.
Patricia, lovingly referred to as ‘Patty’ by close family and friends, was born in August of 1939, the daughter of Mary and Merton Skyner.
Those who knew Patty knew her passions. She loved baseball and the New York Yankees – she kept a photo of Derek Jeter prominently displayed in her home. She loved to play Bingo and she fondly remembered playing with her cousin and best friend, Gerry Cobos. Patty was a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan and watched every game.
But most of all, Patty was passionate about life and living it to the fullest. She never missed a picnic with family. She was the life of the party at relatives’ graduation celebrations, birthday get-togethers, and milestone events. Patty was always the first to initiate a card game with friends. She was lucky and often won those games. She kept people’s hearts full with laughter and their bellies full of her famous baked beans.
All her life, Patty was a proud member of the Manchester-Shortsville community. She was an auxiliary member at the American Legion Post 34 for over 45 years. She worked as a cleaner at The Depot restaurant and after her retirement, she went back regularly to enjoy her favorite meal – scallops and a baked potato.
Patty will be remembered by her niece, Rose Foster, her nephew Robert Cobos, her brother Milton (Linda), and her sister Genevieve Rudy; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved son Michael, his father Melvin, her longtime partner Tom Butler, her brothers Louis, Wesley and Merton Skyner and her sister Marylouise (Don) Udelhofen; and a brother-in-law, Don Rudy.
