Patricia “Pat” Elizabeth Stephens, 74, of Galesburg, died at 12:38 a.m. on Sunday, January 02, 2011 at Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth.
Pat was born on September 20, 1936 in Galesburg, the daughter of Edward and Vera (Rohn) Langdon. She married Donald Stephens on July 28, 1956 in Galesburg. Donald preceded her in death in 1993. Pat is survived by 2 sons, Marty of Galesburg and Donald (and Heather) of Duncannon, PA; and 2 daughters, Renee (and David) Greig of St. Augustine and Chris Stephens of Galesburg. She is also survived by 2 sisters and 2 brothers, 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Pat and Donald lived in Galesburg for several years and then moved to California in 1978 where she worked for a time as a security guard. They returned to Galesburg in 1983 and then helped Don in managing the Friendly Café. She also had employment at other points of her life, such as working part time at Anderson Florists and 4 years at Maytag. She was active for many years in the Welcome Newcomer’s Club, was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, and was a volunteer at the gift shop at Cottage Hospital. Pat also served as an usher at the Orpheum Theater.
