Patricia Ann Robinson was born in Phoenix, Arizona on August 29th, 1929. She loved her home state and hometown deeply, especially the art, architecture and culture that grew up alongside her during the past 86 years.
In 1919, her father, Forrest Cecil (Robbie) Robinson, gave up a football scholarship and moved from Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Phoenix to follow his high school sweetheart and future wife, Pearl Garisham. Pearl was 16 and had come to Phoenix in an attempt to save her sister from tuberculosis after several other members of their family died from the disease. Forrest and Pearl married shortly after Pearl’s sister died and Pat was born in 1929. Ultimately, both Garisham sisters succumbed to tuberculosis. Pearl passed away April 20th, 1933, four months before Pat’s fourth birthday.
After her mother’s death, Pat’s father met and married Eula Ethel Allen Ray, a nurse at the sanatorium. Pat’s little sister, Beverly Jo, was born in 1937. Pat also gained a stepbrother and stepsister from Eula’s first marriage, Tommy Ray and Mary Lou Ray Pruter.
