Patricia Barbee Smith, 73, of Mount Pleasant, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord.
Patricia was born on April 28, 1950, in Concord, NC to the late Grady Julius Barbee and Ada Linker Barbee. She was also predeceased in death by her brothers, Bill Barbee, Aubrey “Short” Barbee, and Herman Barbee, Sr.
She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School, class of 1968, and married her high school sweetheart, Dennis E. Smith on December 1, 1968.
Patricia had a 30-year career with AT&T. Upon her retirement, she began a second career as business manager for her husband’s Dennis taxidermy shop, Game Trail Taxidermy, and continued in that role till the present.
She was a woman of many skills and talents and loved to share her knowledge with others. She had a mastery of life skills and things she loved to do including gardening, canning, baking, cooking, and crafting.
Patricia was an active member of St. Stephens Wesleyan Church from a very young age. She became the church pianist when she was just 10 years old and continued in that role till present. Her love of God truly expressed itself in serving others. She loved her church family dearly, and her love for her own family was boundless.
Pat is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dennis E. Smith and daughter, Kimberly Nicole Smith, both of Mount Pleasant; brother, Ray Barbee of Locust; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
