Patrecia Ann Sondgerath, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2021. She was born on May 6, 1940 in Hoopeston, Illinois to the late John Vernon and Helen (Thornburg) Gholson. She was blessed with two wonderful husbands, Joseph Norman Lockhart and Ronald Arthur Sondgerath; both preceded her in death.
Patrecia graduated from John Greer High School, Class of 1958. After graduation, she married Joseph Norman Lockhart. They moved to Champaign, IL and enrolled in the University of Illinois, where Patrecia was employed as a campus secretary then after became pregnant with ther first born. Upon Joe’s graduation and the birh of the baby, they moved to Cinncinnati, OH as Joe started a teaching career. Several years later, Joe left acadamia to pursue a career in IT and they moved to Indianapolis, IN where Pat lived most of her life. They had 4 more children. Patrecia was always so proud of her children and grandchildren and loved to boast of their accomplishments.
Survivors include her children, Paul Lockhart, Mary Dianne Kirkman, Tyler Joseph Lockhart (Tathia), Ruth E. Niezgodski (William) and Rachel Lockhart; step children Michelle Miller (Ken), Todd Sondgerath (Penny), Thane Sondgerath (Terri), Heidi Tapley (Mark); sisters, Mary Knapp, Alice Butts and Shirley Sondgerath (Weimer); 28 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
