Pastor Ronald J. McCurry, 63 of Newnan, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. He was born July 12, 1954 in Savannah, GA to Pastor Robert McCurry and Evelyn Wade McCurry. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by son Matthew McCurry and father-in-law Herman L. Taylor. Pastor Ron grew up in East Point, GA where his father was the founder of Calvary Temple Church and Central Christian School. He was a graduate of Whitfield Theological Seminary. Pastor Ron and his father were visionaries in the church and Christian School Community. In 1988, they purchased forty-seven acres and moved their congregation and school to the once rural Sharpsburg. In the last twenty years the church, now Southpointe Church, and Central Christian School have experienced exponential growth by spreading the Gospel. Survivors include wife, Pamela Taylor McCurry; father, Pastor Robert McCurry; children, Josh (Kim) McCurry, Andrea McCurry; brother, David (Melissa) McCurry; mother-in-law, Macile Taylor; numerous nieces and nephews.
