Pansie departed this life on Thursday, April 10, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Glenn Chapman; her parents, Benjamin and Anna Snider; and by her two brothers, Otto Cleo and George Alva Snider. Pansie was trained as a teacher at an early age and taught school five terms in different Iowa rural schools. Later, she took training at Indian Hills Community College, received her degree, and was a practical nurse for forty years, working in the Centerville Hospital, a Chariton Nursing Home, and with a number of private nursing cases in Iowa and Oklahoma. Pansy described herself as “stern” in her work, and was proud of the fact that she helped many sick people during her career. Pansie and Robert lived at first on his grandfather’s rural Wayne County farm, and later in Chariton and in Oklahoma. They had returned to Iowa to take care of elderly relatives when Robert died of a heart attack on February 24, 1975.
