Oscar Thomas Long age 95 of Heber Springs formerly of Ft. Smith, Arkansas passed away  Friday, September 15 at Southridge Nursing and Rehab. Born July 30, 1922 in Chattanooga, Tennessee he was the son of the late Walter E. and Emma Mason Long. Mr. Long was a veteran serving his country with distinction during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired with the rank of E8 (SMSGT) from military service.

His hobbies that he enjoyed were wood carving and gardening.

He was a 32 Degree Mason serving some 72 years. He was a member of Kilwinning Lodge #265 of Pratt, Kansas.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Floy Long and a sister, Margaret and a brother, Earl W. Long.

Left to cherish his memory: a son, Thomas E. Long and wife Sharon of Heber Springs, Arkansas; grandchildren, Karen E. Powell and husband Ian of Milwaukie OR, Kenneth E. Long and wife Jessie of Venice, California and Kevin E. Long and wife Teresa of Vail, AZ; and many friends.

The family extends their gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Mark Smith, the staff of Southridge Village and Kindred Hospice employees for taking care of dad during his declining years.
