Winsted: Oscar Earl Brentnall, 84, of Gay Street, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Laurel Hill Health Care Center after a long illness. He was the husband of Beverly (Davis) Brentnall for 62 years. Born in Winsted, June 18, 1924 to Oscar and Eleanor (Hotchkiss) Brentnall, he attended local schools and served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years on Siapan and Okinawa with the 101st Sea Bee Battalion during WW II. Prior to his retirement in 1989, he had worked for the Torrington Co. for 16 years. He was a life member of the VFW Post 296, 50 year member of the Kehow Tribe of Red Men and was an avid stamp collector for many years. During the 50’s and 60’s he was active in the Civil Defense. In addition to his wife, he leaves four children, Donna Albrecht and her husband Robert of Plainville, Sandra Cummiskey and her husband John of New Britain, William Brentnall and his wife Cheryl of Gales Ferry, Betty Ann Zaccara and her husband Donald of Winsted; 3 grandchildren, Michael Cummiskey of New Britain, Nicole Brentnall of Gales Ferry, Ashley Zaccara of Philadelphis, PA and one great granddaughter, Brianna Brentnall-Beebe of Gales Ferry. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Alisha Zaccara.
