Oramel “Whitey” Calvert, 94, of Bayville, Berkeley Twp., NJ, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016 at home. Born in Hackensack, NJ, he lived in Union Beach, NJ before moving to Bayville 10 years ago. Oramel was an Operating Engineer for Local 825, Springfield, NJ, for 20 years, retiring in 1972.
He was a Medic in the US Army during WWII, serving in the invasion of Normandy. He also served in Germany, North France, Ardennes and Rhineland. He was the recipient of the RTO Ribbon with five battle stars, the Bronze Star, the Bronze Service Arrowhead and the Distinguished Unit Badge.
