Ophelia Mae (Holliman) Asche, 82, of Ogallala went to be with the Lord August 2nd, 2022 at Ogallala Community Hospital. She was born November 2nd, 1939 to Donald and Henrietta (Haughey) Holliman in St. Francis, Kansas. She graduated St. Francis High School in 1956, married Albert Stroup and were blessed with two beautiful children, Maria in 1957 and Neil in 1959. Ophelia traveled to several locations in support of Al’s career in teaching before settling in Brule in 1970.

After Ophelia and Al went their separate ways, she found new love with Kenneth Asche, and the two sealed their love February 20th, 1971. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2021 surrounded by their loved ones. After their retirement, they spent time traveling, and enjoying retirement at home surrounded by children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ken and Ophelia took great care of their home and each other.

Ophelia was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ogallala.   She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and desired for others to know and trust in Him.

Ophelia is survived by her husband, Kenneth J. Asche of Ogallala, daughter, Maria Morava of Ogallala, step-daughters, Debra (Scot Richards) Brouillette of Osceola, NE, Nancy (John) Manweiler of St. George, UT, step-son Paul (Terri) Asche of Grand Island, NE.  19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren and her special dog Ronnie. She is preceded in death by her son, Neil R. Stroup, her mother Henrietta Wilber, step-father William “Chic’ Wilber, father Donald Holliman, step-daughter Susan (Earl) Smith, her grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
