Opal D. (Miller) Nadauld, (93) passed away peacefully April 7, 2012, at the home of her daughter, Patrice Kezar, of Boise, surrounded by family members.
Born October 31, 1918 at the home her Grandpa and Grandma Rands, in Ririe, Idaho, to John B. and Amy (Rands) Miller, Opal spent her early childhood years in the beautiful Swan Valley area. She attended Irwin Grade School in Swan Valley for grades first through third; for grades fourth through eighth she attended Rainey Dell School in Swan Valley. Opal moved to Idaho Falls for the ninth grade, where she attended O.E. Bell Jr. High School and then attended Idaho Falls High School for grades ten through twelve. Opal attended the University of Idaho for one year and Woodbury College in Los Angeles, California from 1938 through 1940.
In the early 1940’s, as a young girl from the mountains of Idaho, she went to Washington, D.C. to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Opal often spoke of her experiences in the “east.” In the fall of 1943 she traveled back across the United States to California. She had friends, family and a job waiting for her there.
She married Gordon L. Nadauld in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 7, 1944. In September of that year they moved to Idaho Falls.
In 1985 Gordon and Opal moved to Boise to get away from the long, cold eastern Idaho winters and be closer to family.
Survivors include her two daughters: Nancy Nadauld Cunningham (Brent) of Eagle, Idaho and Patrice Nadauld Kezar (Wes) of Boise, Idaho; seven grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Connie Reeves of Amarillo, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, David R. Miller and her sister, Ruby Elizabeth (Miller) Paschke.
