Opal Lorraine (Jorgensen) Faaborg, 86, of Anita, Iowa, formerly of Atlantic, Iowa, was born May 14, 1922, the daughter of Thorvald and Stella (Justesen) Jorgensen in Sharon Township, Audubon County, Iowa, and passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at Colonial Manor in Anita, Iowa.

Opal grew up and attended school in the Elk Horn- Kimballton area. On April 7, 1945, she was married to Lyle Faaborg in Killeen, Texas. The couple spent most of their lives farming around the Exira, Kimballton, and Atlantic, Iowa, areas, retiring in 1992. During the early years of their marriage, Opal worked as a waitress and cleaned houses in Elk Horn and Kimballton. After the birth of her sons, Opal’s life was dedicated to taking care of her family and helping with the farm. Opal will be remembered as a wonderful cook and an adoring Grandmother. She will be missed as a loving soul who loved the Lord.

Opal is survived by her sons, Dennis Faaborg of Nashville, Tennessee, and Rick Faaborg and his wife Debbie of Buckley, Washington; her grandchildren, Nicole Faaborg of Denver, Colorado, Brooke Faaborg of Nashville, Tennessee, Chad Faaborg of Portland, Oregon, and Clay Faaborg of Bothel, Washington; her sister, Frankie Bladt of Elk Horn, Iowa; her niece, Zelda Marxen of Atlantic, Iowa; her nephews, Terry Jorgensen and his wife Barb, of Ida Grove, Iowa, and Larry Marxen of Atlantic, Iowa; and her brothers-in-law, Jerry Faaborg and his wife, Lee of Joplin, Missouri, and Darwin Faaborg and his wife, Barbara of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lyle; her sister, Lavonne Bladt; her brothers-in-law, Chris Bladt and Arnold Bladt; her sister – in-law Virginia Nelson and her brother- in-law, Emery Nelson.
