Oneda (Neda) Jacqueline Mason- Eubanks transitioned to spend eternal life with God on June 3, 2023, at 1:44 pm, with her family surrounding her. She was born on May 17, 1941, to the late Henry Randolph Mason and Pauline (Murrell) Mason in Boissevain, Virginia. She graduated from Tazwell High School and relocated to Columbus, Ohio in the early 1960’s.  In 1962, she married her loving husband, Howard Eubanks. Out of this union one child, Shelia Ann Eubanks, was born.

In the early 60’s Oneda started her career with Lazarus / Macy in Downtown Columbus. She was one of the first associates who accepted the position when the new Lazarus store opened in the Eastland Mall.  Oneda remained at the Eastland Mall store until her retirement on July 1, 2000.

Oneda gave her life to God at an early age. Once in Columbus, she made her way to the Ebenezer Baptist Church at 86 South Ohio Ave, where she served in the Nurse’s Ministry.  She also attended the Temple of Compassion located in the Southfield community. She was affectionately known as Neda or Grandma Eubanks to young people across Columbus.  Neda lived a life of giving herself to all. She was dedicated to loving and caring for young people. Grandma Eubanks became a permanent fixture at Christ the King Catholic School, later known as the All-Saints Academy. She started as a volunteer, then became a member of the staff at the school she loved. She remained on staff until retiring in January of 2022.

Oneda was a lady committed to the Southfield community and the City of Columbus. She was one of the first volunteers for Mayor Michael B. Coleman’s Cap City Kids program at the Marion Franklin Recreation Center.  She loved volunteering at all community events. She was a longtime member of The Marion Franklin Civic Association and served as the Precinct Judge for the Franklin County Board of Elections in Southfield for several years.  She also supported the Far South Area Commission. One of her favorite events was the National Night Out.

Oneda loved family events. The Eubanks Family Reunion was a staple in her life. She served on several committees and was proud to be a part of planning and attending every bi-annual Reunion since 1973. Our family became really close during these planning sessions.

Oneda is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Wallace Mason and sisters Alberta Mason and Barbara Maxwell. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 61 years, Howard Eubanks, daughter Sheila Ann Eubanks, stepdaughters Patricia (Patty) Eubanks -Brown of Columbus and Deloris Mobley of Augusta GA, granddaughters, JoAnn Eubanks and Chandris Ross, grandson, Larry McDonald, great- grandsons, Brandon McDonald, Devon Eubanks and Jordan Eubanks, Two great-great Grandsons, sister, Delores (Dee) Ross of Elk Grove, CA, sister-in-law, Ida Johnson and Etta Eubanks of Augusta GA , brother-in-law, Freddie Maxwell of Bluefield West Virginia, special sons, Reggie Mitchel and Mark Jenkins and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Oneda’s loving and kind spirits will continually live on in each one of us. Oneda was an example of a person who truly served God by loving her family and community unconditionally.
