In addition, she is a treasured aunt and great aunt to many other nieces and nephews several generations down including Doreen Holladay of Clearwater, FL; Jeanine Knez of Lisle, IL; Gail (Don) Gentry of Green Valley, AZ; and Sharon (Ron) Boatright of Littleton, CO. Olympia (aka Vil ) was born in Chicago Heights, IL in 1915 and later moved to Steger, where she married and ran her own home-based beauty salon.

Later she worked for National Tea Food Stores in Chicago Heights and Sauk Village; then as produce manager for Hartmanns Foods in Steger, from where she retired. Auntie Vil, as she was affectionately known to her many nieces and nephews, enjoyed telling stories about the old days during Prohibition and the Great Depression.

She loved to cook for the family and friends, and took care of her father, a brother and her sister during their battles with blindness, cancer and Alzheimers Disease. She had tremendous strength of body, mind and spirit, which made her an inspiration to all who knew her and cared for her. She will be dearly missed.
