BRIGHAM CITY – Elizabeth Olive Hansen Gittins, 90, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.
Olive was born on July 14, 1925 in Brigham City, Utah a daughter of Henry and Hazel Emma Allen Hansen.
She married Howard H. Gittins on March 12, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple and they were able to share almost 54 years together before he passed away in 2001.
Her early years were spent in Utah and Montana. She worked hard on her father’s farm and later in her uncle’s orchards and fields. She met Howard while working at the Navy Base in Layton, Utah.
Olive devoted her life to serving her family and others. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and gardener. She also quilted, decorated cakes, crocheted, knitted, and embroidered.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Primary and Relief Society. She loved the gospel with all her heart.
She is survived by her children: Paula Gittins and Jeff Gittins both of Brigham City; and Greg (Genice) Gittins, of West Jordan; three grandchildren, a niece and two nephews. Also one sister, Jeannine (Len) Woodward, of Riverdale, Utah.
