Obituary of Odie Lee Harris
Odie Lee Winborn Harris passed away Friday, November 8, 2019 at Hoyt Nursing home and Rehab. She was born on April 1, 1925 in Rogersville, Alabama to the late Robert and Lucille (Ingram) Winborn. She was raised by her devoted
grandmother whom she loved very much and spoke of often. She joined Zion
Missionary Baptist Church upon her arrival in Saginaw, MI in the late 1950s. She
was a member of the Nurses Guild and the Mother’s Board.
Mama Harris (as she is fondly known) is survived by three sisters, Mae Shafeek
and Alice Allen both of Dayton, OH and Margie Davis of Middletown, OH; two
brothers, Rev Ellis E. (Dorothy) Winborn of Middletown OH and Robert Winborn
of Cleveland, OH; two cousins, Donald (Patricia) Noel and Gary Noel of Saginaw,
MI; a devoted god-daughter, Margaret LaShore of Saginaw, MI another
god-daughter, Evelyn Wettlin of Saginaw, MI; two very special god-daughters,
Susan Bibbs, Phoenix, AZ and Adrian Bowie of Saginaw, MI, two other
god-granddaughters, Delphie Bowie and Sherry Bowie of Saginaw MI; a Special
god-son, Charles Jumper of Saginaw, MI; and her dear friends, Ernest (the late Marge) Flegenheimer, Riggle and Deisler families of Saginaw, Midland and Vermont. She
also leaves many god-grandchildren living across the country who enjoyed her
gentle soul.
She was predeceased in death by her parents and grandmother, two aunts Hattie
and Lorraine Noel, special god-daughters Mae Harris and Loretta Jones, a god-son (William Byrd).
The family would like to extend a special thanks to family, friends, and church
family for the love, phone calls and sitting with us at the hospital and nursing
home. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of Covenant-Cooper
Hospital, the staff of Hoyt Nursing Home and Hospice of Saginaw. A very special
thank you to Dr H. Singh for the heartfelt care of our love one.
