DEMERS, Zakie N.
Born in Syria, Zakie was an incredible dressmaker, specializing in bead work, and she owned bridal shops in Cambridge and Arlington for years. She was extremely social and a very gracious hostess. There was always company at her home and she loved telling stories. She was also an avid cook specializing in Syrian food. She loved her community in Ft. Lauderdale, especially her walks on the beach with her beloved Philip, enjoying a cold beer and a slice of pizza. Zakie was happiest surrounded by her loving family and will be missed dearly.
Zakie was the dear and devoted wife of Philip Demers and the late John Sakey and the late Mitri Nahat. Loving mother of George Sakey of Lynn, Richard Nahat and his wife Patsy of FL, Louis Sakey and his wife Lynn of Woburn, Cheryl Baker and her husband James of Billerica and Suzy Sakey of Burlington. Cherished “Thea-thea” of 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
