Age 84, died on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Sparrow Hospital as a result of complications from hip surgery. She was born on September 14, 1928 in Clinton County, Michigan the daughter of Aloysius and Elizabeth (Fandel) Droste. Wilma was a lifelong resident of Westphalia, a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and the Christian Mothers’ Society. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Georgiana and Charles Clark; brother, Tom Droste; brothers-in-law, Jim Pung and Paul Henning. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, John Schafer of Westphalia; children, Cris of Lansing, and Jack (Liza) of Glastonbury, CT; 2 step-grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Ramsey and Tory Carbone; 3 step-great grandchildren, Madyson, Isabella, and Ava; 2 sisters, Alice (Sam) Donahue, and Pat Pung; 1 brother, Richard (Bernadette) Droste; 4 sisters-in-law, Janet Droste, Ruth Henning, Joanne Schafer, and Donna (Jim) Heibeck; many nieces and nephews.
