Mr. William Fredrick Barkley age 79 of Grand Bay AL, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022, in a Pascagoula hospital. Born July 26, 1942, in Ashland MS, to the late John H. Barkley and Willetta E. Stark Barkley. He had been a resident of the Gulf Coast since 1969. Mr. Barkley was a graduate of the University of Mississippi and received his Master’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. He spent his working life as a professional educator. After teaching history in Bragedosha, MO, Independence & West Point, MS and various other schools, he moved to the Gulf Coast to work for Moss Point Independent School District in 1969 to become principal of Orange Lake Elementary School. He finished his career in 1994 in the district’s Central Office.
Left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife Carolyn Barkley of Grand Bay AL; three sons Dewight Barkley of Dallas, TX, Dewayne Barkley of Berlin, Germany and Hal Barkley of St. Elmo, AL; four grandchildren Brandy Wainwright, Andy Barkley, Cassie Barkley, Christopher Barkley, and five great grandchildren.
