William “Bill” Ray Penning of Cuba, MO left this life on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at his home at the age of 60 years, 5 months and 17 days. He was born February 11, 1953 in St. Louis, MO to Clarence Edward Penning and Alvina M. Setzer Penning.


Bill served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He worked as an auto mechanic and enjoyed working on boats and lawn mowers. He also was a truck driver and a fireman for the railroad.


He was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Cuba at the age of 22. He enjoyed playing his guitar and especially loved playing his drums and listening to “Grateful Dead” music. He also was a St. Louis Rams and Cardinals fan.


Bill will always be remembered as a very giving person to others.


Bill is survived by one son, Brad Penning of Ohio; two brothers, Pete Penning and wife Kathy of Tampa, FL and Denny Penning and wife Debbie of Hazelwood, MO; aunts, Doris Andrews of Cuba, MO and Doris Penning of Joplin, MO;  uncle, Ray Setzer and wife Melba of Portland, OR; special cousin, Britt Blankenship of Bismarck, MO; ex-wife and best friend, Cheryl Pitts of Cuba, MO; nephews,  David , Scott, Pat and Chris Penning. niece, Amy Penny Gustafson; other relatives; and family friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bryan Penning; uncles, Marvin Andrews, Charles Setzer and Leonard Penning; aunt, Fern Penning Cooksey and husband Jake; and one nephew, Keith Penning.


The Family received friends from 1:00 p.m.
