Windham-Wendell Lawrence “Larry” Shaw 87, died March 17, 2015. Born to Katherine M. Schow and Henry S. Shaw on October 19, 1927. Larry attended South Portland Schools and spent most of his life residing there.  Larry started to build his family life when he married Edna Reynolds on a Christmas Eve, his wife of 56 years. Larry served his Country in the U.S. Navy where he was a Diver and the Marines. He worked for the South Portland Fire Dept. for 25 years. First as a call man at Engine 5, additionally he drove ambulance for 10 years with the SPFD. He also drove truck for many trucking companies in the Portland Area on his off days.

 

Before retiring from the Fire Dept. he and his wife bought land and built a cottage on Little Sebago Lake. He loved all the years that were spent at the lake and was always very happy there. He was predeceased by his wife Edna L. Shaw who passed away in 2008. He was also predeceased by a grandson, Leonard G. Brown Jr. in 2000. Larry was affectionately known as Gump to all children.

Surviving children are sons; Stephen R. Shaw and Daniel L. Shaw. A daughter Donna M. Brown and husband Leonard G. Brown Sr. Grandchildren are Jason L. Brown and Kristi. M. Brown Great-Grandchildren are Kearston Brown, Caleb Brown, Abby Brown, Hunter, Ella Brown and Chelsea Ochtera, One Great great-grandchild, Aiden Smith.
