Viola “Vi” Donat, 93, of Baudette, MN died, Tuesday, August 7, 2007 in the LakeWood Care Center. She was born August 15, 1913 in Upsala, MN to John and Christine (Forsland) Sundquist. Vi moved with her family when she was a young girl to Newfolden, MN and grew up on the family farm. She moved back to Upsala, MN and was married on Feb. 14, 1933 to Albert Donat in Upsala, MN.
In 1936, Vi and Al moved to Napa Valley, CA; Vi was a homemaker for the majority of her live, but during World War II she was a welder in the shipyards at Mare Island, CA for two years. She was very proud to help her country in the war efforts.
Al and Vi moved back to Upsala, MN and bought a farm and continued farming until moving to Baudette, MN in 1959 where Al was employed at the Radar Base in Baudette.
Vi had a great loved for horse and she loved to ride them as well. She was always ready to lend a helping hand with what ever needed to be done. She was active helping her daughter in-law, Randee Donat with the cleaning and mending of sheets and whatever needed some TLC at the Bayview Lodge.
