Velma Kathman, 85, of Thief River Falls, MN, formerly of Stephen, MN, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2010 at MeritCare Hospital in Thief River Falls.
Velma Riel was born on September 28, 1924 in rural Brooks, MN, the daughter of Frank and Della Riel. She was raised in rural Brooks where she attended school. On November 23, 1942, she married William Kathman in Brooks. They made their home in rural Stephen where they farmed. They moved to Thief River Falls in 1981.
She enjoyed many activities including gardening, crocheting, canning vegetables, blue berry picking, cleaning, cooking and helping on the farm.
Left to mourn her passing are her three children: Gary (Kathy) Kathman of Crystal, MN, Connie Kathman of Thief River Falls, MN and Shirley (Curtis) Owens of Euclid, MN; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Karen Ignaszewski;son, Dale Kathman and ten brothers and sisters.
