Terry was born on September 26, 1956 and died at his home on October 28, 2007. He was raised in Reed City, Michigan. He attended Ferris State University and worked for the Lansing City Board of Water and Light. He was a Farm Bureau Insurance Agent and at the age of 36 he went back to college and graduated from Davenport University with a degree in Physical Therapy. He worked at Sparrow Hospital Rehabilitation for 8 years. Terry volunteered as a Big Brother and coached youth floor hockey, baseball and basketball in the Lansing and Holt YMCA’s. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Portland where he served on the Board of Deacons and initiated the Adopt-A-Homebound Program. Terry was an avid Spartan basketball fan and loved being a Grandpa to his 12 inherited grandchildren. He loved attending their school sports, music and other activities. Terry enjoyed fishing and campfires with family and friends and wildlife habitat development at his Osceola County cabin. Terry is preceded in death by his father, Dale; sister, Veronna McCallum and brother, Darrel Pontz. Surviving are his mother, Doris; wife, Vicki; sister, Jody (Bill) Strelow and brother, Kevin (Angie) Pontz.
