Steven Lee Spitzley, age 80, of Portland, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022. He was born on April 10, 1942 the son of Edward and Marcella (Rademacher) Spitzley. Steve was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Westphalia and St. Patrick’s Church in Portland. Steve retired from General Motors after 42 years of service and was a member of the Michigan National Guard for 6 years. He enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, trips to the casino, Michigan Lottery scratch off tickets, traveling and fishing. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Edward (Eileen) Spitzley, Daniel Spitzley, Larry Spitzley, Marlene (Jerome) Bauer, Mary Lou (Thomas) Weber, Annette Bierstetel; in-laws, Clover Spitzley, Marilyn Freeman, Delores (Walt) Saxton and former wife, Sandra Patrick. Surviving is his wife of 28 years, Georgia Darling (Swanson) Spitzley; children, Kurt (Michell) Spitzley, Kim Keeler, Katrina Hawley, Karen Barker (fiance Mark Smith), Kris (Kendra) Spitzley and stepdaughters, Sheila (Curtis) Flynn, Robin (Scott) Pline and Brenda (Mike) Charles; 17 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; siblings, Kathy (Don) Hengesbach and LeRoy Spitzley; in-laws, Blanche Spitzley, Leon Bierstetel, Viola (Terry) Green, Emma Dobson and Hazel Wortley; many nieces and nephews.
