Selvin Aase, 82, of Warren, MN, passed away on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND surrounded by his family.

He was born on Nov. 5, 1926 at home in Hoople, ND, the son of Edwin and Sophie (Holt) Aase. Selvin moved with his family when he was an infant to a farm by Pisek, ND. When he was 13, he moved with his family to Argyle, MN where he attended school. In 1944, Selvin enlisted in the US Army. He served in the Philippines and in Kentucky.
He was discharged in 1946 and moved to Warren. In 1947, Selvin went to work for H & H of Fargo, ND where he painted houses, fixed windows, laid carpet and did linoleum and tile work. From 1953 – 1964, he drove truck for Fillipi Truck Lines and also farmed. In 1964, Selvin and his
brother, Melvin started their own carpet laying business. On Nov. 5, 1983, he married Gladys Anderson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Warren. They made their home in Warren. Selvin retired from carpet laying in 1988. During retirement they kept busy with crafts, woodworking and travel until Gladys’s death on August 22, 2006.
