New Gloucester – Rosanne Spurling Charland, 62, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday at her home.  She was born in Bar Harbor, ME to Harley & Elaine (Sargent) Spurling.  She was the second of 10 children and graduated from GNG HS in 1971.

She started working at Pineland while attending school and worked until it closed, 21 years later.  She worked dutifully to improve the lives of the children as well as designing many of the winning floats for the annual July 4th parades.   After that she went to work in Augusta until she earned her retirement.  Looking for something to do she joined the Eagles Club in New Gloucester where she became very active in many of the day to day operations.  She will be remembered for her exceptional cooking and many fund raising functions.  She was also known to many for her great talent and unique ideas to plan parties (especially aboard her boat), weddings, showers and any other function.  Many of us can thank her for the hours spent making bows and blowing up balloons.  When it was time for her to relax you could always find her with a book or a kindle in her hands.

Rosanne was predeceased by her father and a nephew, James Bonney.  She is survived by her 9 siblings and 11 nieces and nephews as well as her long time partner Dave Hodsdon.

Rosanne spent all winter just waiting to get on her boat and cruise the lake.  That was according to her LIVING!!
