Ronald “Ron” Nurenberg
Ron went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 11, 2022. Ron was born on August 21, 1939 to Harold and Bernita (Armbrustmacher) Nurenberg. Ron spent his entire life in Westphalia and grew up on a farm, which is where he learned his amazing work ethic. Farming was something that Ron loved and continued in some capacity for the rest of his life, until he was no longer physically able. Ron also loved to play baseball as a child and as a young adult. He enjoyed horseshoes, hunting, fishing bowling, golf, playing cards, and watching sports (especially Tiger’s baseball and any sports or activities that his children or grandchildren were involved in). He worked in the gas department at Consumer’s Energy for over 30 years.
He married the love of his life, Beverly (Martin) on April 15, 1961.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, Joseph and Carolyn Martin, grandson, Brendon Nurenberg, sister, Judy Atheron, brother-in-law, Dennis Smith, and nephews, David Smith and Jacob Martin. Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Beverly, and their 5 children: Tim (Jackie), Terry (Lisa), Lisa (Tony) Schafer, Scott (Jamie), and Becky (Scott) Halfmann. Also surviving are Ron’s 12 grandchildren and their spouses; Clayton (Olivia), Rachel (Clinton), Erica (Evan), Whitney (Jon), Logan, Alyssa, Lauren (Nathan), Dakota, Austin, Eve, Penny, and Celia. Ron was also a great-grandfather to Everly, Georgia, Amelia, and Adalynn; baby girl Nurenberg is on the way and will make great-granddaughter #5. Other than his faith, family was the most important thing in Ron’s life – he was so proud of the family that he and Bev created. He took every opportunity to make sure his family knew this through his actions and words. Ron is also survived by his brother, Joe (Helen) Nurenberg, sister, Mary Smith, brothers and sisters-in-laws, Roy (Kathy) Atherton, Pat (Gene) Geller, Anne (Ed) Smith, and Jim (Carla) Martin. Also surviving Ron are numerous nieces, nephews, and amazing friends.
The family would like to thank Elara Caring Home Care and Hospice for the compassionate care that they provided for Ron over the years. Ron also had numerous caregivers who took care of him in the comfort of his own home during his final years – many of them have become like family to us.
