Roger Winston Homme Jr., the son of Mary Ann (Schepp) and Roger W. Homme Sr., was born on June 12, 1952 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He grew up in Arkansas and moved to Minneapolis. He entered the U.S. Army in June of 1969 and served two tours including the Vietnam War, until being honorably discharged in 1975. He was trained as a taxidermist and worked in that field. He moved to northern Minnesota in 1983, and later that year was involved in a major car accident, in which he suffered a traumatic brain injury. He moved to his brother and sister-in-law’s house in rural Salol in 2000.
Roger loved wildlife and the outdoors. He enjoyed feeding the birds, fish, and country western music, especially Hank Williams JR. He worked at the ODC, which he enjoyed very much. His family was very important to him, and he was proud to be a Veteran. He was a former member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.
Roger Homme passed away on March 10, 2007 at his home in rural Salol at the age of 54.
He is survived by his three children, Tracey Homme of Thief River Falls, Tabitha Olson of Wannaska, and Nancy Timm of Thief River Falls; nine grandchildren, James, Jared, Jarisa, Cole, Mercedes, Danielle, Tania, Maranda and Terrence; brothers, Michael H. Haney of Alexandria and Franklin (Lorie) Homme of Salol. He was preceded in death by his parents.
