Robert S Martinson, 87, of Hannibal, Mo., left his earthly realm to be with his Lord on September 29, 2012 at Beth Haven Nursing Home. Bob was born August 26, 1925 in Duluth, Mn., to Harry and Hilda Martinson. On June 19, 1954 he married Dellafaye Lyons who preceded him in death in 1983. Bob volunteered midway through his senior year of High School to serve in the US Army Air Corp as a Navigator during World War II. He attended the University of Mn., graduating in 1950 with a BA in Electrical Engineering. In Duluth, Bob worked for US Steel and Universal Atlas Cement as an Industrial Engineer, Project Engineer and Superintendent of Maintenance. In 1972, he was transferred to Freeport, Bahamas to serve 7 months as a project engineer at their Bahamas plant. In 1973 he was transferred to US Steelâaa„¢s Hannibal cement plant, where he worked for 17 years as project engineer until his retirement from Continental Cement Co. in 1991. Bob installed lifelines through the HRHS Auxiliary, was a member of the American Legion, volunteered with Boy Scouts, YMCA Indian Maidens, and taught Jr. Achievement. He was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church; serving as childrenâa‚a„¢s church leader, trustee, and usher. Survivors include children: Bruce (Sheryl) Martinson of Schroeder, MN; Debbie Rothweiler, Denise (Bob) Parker, and Brian (Julie) Martinson of Hannibal, Mo; grandchildren: Justin (Erica) and Brandt Parker, Chris Peterson, Sara Rothweiler, Ryan, Kyle, and Alyssa Martinson, and Claire and Evan Martinson; and 3 great-grandchildren. Bob instilled his values onto his family of honesty, integrity, strong work ethic and reverence to his creator.
