Robert Marvin “Bob” Fishwick, 99, of Steelville, MO passed away July 24, 2009 at Gibbs Care Center in Steelville. He was born September 3, 1909 to William and Margaret (Bish) Fishwick in Cuba, MO. Bob was united in marriage to Grace Elizabeth Tooker on October 2, 1934 in Webster Groves, MO. His wife preceded him in death on June 16, 2003.

Bob was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church of Steelville, the Ozark Trail Blazers Club and the Masonic Lodge.

He retired from International Shoe Company as supervisor after thirty years.

Bob was known for his many talents of making handwoven baskets from trees he cut and then made into strips, making pottery, furniture and numerous wood carvings. He had taught basket weaving in War Eagle, AR and at the Iron Works Day in St. James.

He enjoyed gardening and raising cattle. He and his wife, Elizabeth loved to travel to not only places in the U.S., but in other countries.

Bob will be long remembered for his sense of humor and pitching pennies at Schwieder Ford with Ed and seeing who would buy the nickel coke.

He is survived by one daughter, Carol Giorda and husband Dean Weisner of Austin, TX; one son, Robert “Butch” Fishwick and wife Jean of Steelville, MO; three grandchildren, Carol Fishwick and Rebecca Fish of Tulsa, OK and Marie Giorda of New York, NY; one great-grand-daughter, Alicia Noah of Tulsa, OK; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Brown of Lincoln, NE and Virginia Crank of Bloomington, IN; nieces and nephews, Jean Hayden of Wright City, MO, Kathleen Hayden of Corning, CA, Michael Hayden of O’Fallon, MO, John Mahaffy and wife Molly of Spring Mills, PA, Kathy Dudley and husband Rick of Omaha, NE, Joe Mahaffy of San Diego, CA, Mary Mahaffy and husband John Grettenburger of Portland, OR, Linda Mullen and husband Jim of Bedford, IN and Kathleen Calnan and husband Peter of Jerome, UT; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elizabeth; one brother, Ralph Fishwick and one sister, Lucia Brayfield.
