Robert “Bob” LeVoy Dixon, 75, passed away surrounded by family on September 6, 2022.
He was born July 5, 1947 in Etowah County, AL to Melvin LeVoy Dixon and Mabel Lee Ward Dixon.
Bob was an avid traveler, and spent time all over the country. He was an experienced sailor who earned his Coast Guard Captains License. He traveled to the British Virgin Islands to island hop ever year with his wife on their sail boat. They were the owners of Lanier Sailing Academy, where he taught classes for Auburn University on Lake Martin.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin LeVoy Dixon and Mabel Lee Ward Dixon; brother, Donald Wayne Dixon; and grandchild, Michael Sewell.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty June Prestwood Dixon; son, William Earl Elkins (Tina); daughters, Melissa Jene Lilly (Dale), and Annette Levoy Dixon Thompson (John); sister, Martha Ann Dixon Davis (Billy); grandchildren, Allan Moore (Kameron), Alex Elkins, Jessica Quinn (Michael) Heather Millwood, Briar Lilly, Michael Lilly (Samantha), and Lawson Barlow; and 7 great grandchildren.
