Phyllis (Phyl) Laurene Nelson, of Apple Valley, MN and Willmar, MN
Born November 2, 1929, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 9, 2021.
She was preceded in death by parents Roy and Alma Thorson, Brothers Harold “Bitty”, Eldon “Eldie”, and Lowell “Loady,” and her husband of 60 years, Rueben Nelson.
Together they had a daughter Candy, and sons Tim (Nina), and Tom (Lisa). They also have 7 grandchildren Lily (Pete), Alex (Amber), Emily (Chris), Kayla (Kevin), Danny, Maia, and Eric.
Great-Grandchildren Leslie, Lana, Kaiya, Aunika, Ashton and Amelia.
Phyl is also survived by sisters Marilyn and Beatrice (Dean), and brothers Roger (Shirley), and Dale (Karen), and sister in-law Helen. She also has a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Phyl was a charter member of the Auxiliary at the Bloomington VFW Post 1296. There she volunteered many hours at hospitals and other community events. She worked at Liberty Mutual and later she sold pull tabs at the VFW. Phyl was very social.
