Nellie J. Erickson, the daughter of Clara (Anderson) and Henry Helgeson was born in Duxby, MN on November 16, 1920. She attended school in Duxby and later married Lester Erickson in 1938.
Lester and Nellie lived on a farm in Soler Township where they raised cattle for their livelihood. They had three children, Janice, Leslie, and Randy. In 1992 Lester passed away. Nellie continued living on the home place until moving into the Greenbush Nursing Home in May of 1998. Her son Randy now resides on the farm.
Nellie enjoyed sewing flower gardening, feeding the birds, and was a wonderful cook. She was a member of Oiland Lutheran Church. She passed away on Sunday, January 28, at the Greenbush Nursing Home. She was 86 years old.
Nellie is survived by her daughter Janice Awbery of Louistown, Montana, sons Leslie Erickson of Omaha, Nebraska, and Randy (Doris) Erickson of Greenbush, MN; grandchildren Wade, Dane and DeNell Stewart, Brendell and Aarod Awberry, step-grandchildren Derick, Danny and Aaron Kvien, and Aimee Burkel; 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and sister Lyda Erickson of Badger. She is preceded in death by her husband Lester, brothers Lloyd and Clarence, and sisters, Mabel, Lillian, Annie, Alice, Ella, Agnes, and Vernie.
