Myrtle Hoff, 100, of Oslo, MN, passed away on Tuesday morning, January 6, 2009 at the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Myrtle Engstrom was born on May 6, 1908 at Alvarado, MN, the daughter of John and Emily (Blom) Engstrom. She was a life long resident of the Alvarado – Oslo, MN area. On December 12, 1928, she married Carl Hoff. They made their home in rural Oslo where they farmed. Carl died on July 21, 1975. She moved to Thief River Falls in 1999. .

She was a member of Oak Park Lutheran Church in rural Oslo until the church closed and she joined Zion Lutheran Church in Oslo.

Myrtle loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed baking and was known for her dark bread and she enjoyed flower gardening. Whenever anyone would stop by, she would always make sure that they would get a cup of coffee and some goodies.

Left to mourn her passing are four children: Eulailah Zinke of Pleasanton, CA, Marilyn (Allan) Dahlstrom of Ogema, MN, June Swanson of Thief River Falls, MN and Loren Hoff of East Grand Forks, MN; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Jeri Hoff and Carolyn Werner and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; son, Cameron; seven brothers and seven sisters.
