Minnie Haugen, 92, Newfolden, MN, formerly of rural Argyle, MN, died on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren, MN.
Minnie Adamson was born on September 3, 1916 in Sarnia Township – Whitman, ND, the daughter of Gust and Louise (Mithun) Adamson. Minnie attended school in Whitman. On June 26, 1940, she married John Rio of Michigan, ND. They lived on a farm near Michigan unit 1958 when John died. She worked in private homes taking care of children. Minnie met Arthur Haugen and they were married on June 3, 1961. They made their home in rural Argyle where they farmed. In 1976, Arthur retired and they built a new home in Newfolden. Minnie and Arthur enjoyed traveling to many places in their motor home. They once took a bus to Alaska and came back on a ship and also traveled to Norway. Arthur died in 1991.
She was an active member of Alma Lutheran Church and was involved in the Ladies Aide and Circle. Minnie also served on the board of the Marshall County Historical Society for many years.
